Surprise Party | Hansen Family

Posted on Jun 4, 2012 in family video | 5 Comments

When I received a call from Dave and he shared his idea to surprise his wife with a 40th birthday party, I was totally onboard. His idea of a video to show at the party was even more meaningful. The Hansen’s are some of the most genuine people I have had the opportunity to meet. The love and joy they show each other is inspiring. The plan was to interview the family members (brother/sisters/parents/etc.) all told I had 12 people to interview. This was no small task on my part but to actually keep everything a secret was quite the undertaking for Dave. The party was planned with a tent to set up, lemon trees were brought in, over 60 guests invited, a live band for an actual show, catering…and the list goes on.

After everything was said and done I felt I got to know the guest of honor (Tori) and the family (cutting down over an hour of interviews will have that effect). I feel so much pride in myself and my profession when I actually get to see the look and emotion in everyone’s faces when they watch the film (it was screened at the actual surprise party this past Saturday). It reassures me that I am doing what I am meant to do, in this life and this moment. Thanks again to the Hansen’s for their hospitality and hiring me to create something special for you. I hope you enjoy this video for years to come.

And a huge thanks to my good friend and photographer Justin Hackworth for pointing them in the direction of Kale Fitch Films.

If you have an extra 13 minutes in your day, take a seat and watch this film…

Thanks so much Staci, I appreciate your comments! The first song is “Quiet Hearts” by Amy Stroup and the 2nd is “Perfect Day” by Holley Maher.

Anyone can shoot a video. You, however, are a storyteller, and a very gifted one at that.
